Rotary Bangalore Southwest is one of the Prominent Rotary Clubs in Bangalore City. It was chartered on 14th December 1981, is sponsored by Rotary Club of Bangalore South. The Club now meets on every Tuesday at 7.00 pm at Meenakshi ENT Specialty Centre (MENTS) #2232, 23rd Cross Road, BSK 2nd Stage, Bengaluru – 560070.
The members are from well-known business concerns and professionals mainly residing in the southern part of Bangalore. The Club has several achievements to its credit in the avenue of Community Service--Polio Plus Camps, Massive Tree Planting Program, Solar lamp distribution, Dictionary distribution, Career Planning for Youth and Women etc. It has been responsible for sponsoring three new Clubs – Rotary Club of Bangalore J. P. Nagar, Rotary Bangalore Knowledge City and Rotary Chikkaballapur.
Major projects undertaken by the Club which have served the community significantly are:
1. Setting up of Computer Department at St. Anthony's School, Bannerghatta Road and in Poleramma High School, Julapalya.
2. Comfort stations & Cooking Gas Equipment’s at Swami Vivekananda School.
3. Set up of NICU at PD Hinduja Hospital in association with IWC Southwest, Rotary Club of Las Vegas, USA.
4. Science Laboratory in Poleramma High School at Julapalya Village, Chickaballapur District.
5. Water for Life Project providing water filters to Government schools to improve the health of students from weaker sections and to BSK 2 stage BBMP Hospital.
6. OFDD: - Supporting Bangalore Kidney Foundation with One Free Dialysis per Day for needy patients from weaker sections.
7. An Electronic Interactive Teaching Aids Facility at Brindavan Education Trust, Bangalore, for Children with slow learning capabilities.
8. E patashala facility has been enabled for the poor rural children
9. HEALTH FOR LIFE - INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT: - We have setup a Pediatric Chemotherapy Centre at Rangadore Memorial Hospital in association with Rotary Clubs of Salem, Salem Sun Set and Tigard Breakfast, USA. This Centre will enable the treatment for economically weaker sections of the Society.
10. HEALTH FOR LIFE - TREATMENT PROJECT: - Children from economically sections who are affected with curable cancer are being offered free treatment at KIWDWAI Memorial Institute of Oncology since the past 3 years. So far around 66 children have been treated successfully.
11. MEANING FOR LIFE - Distributed over 5000 Dictionaries to high school students studying in various schools in & around Bangalore, Kolar & Pavagada.
12. LIGHT FOR LIFE - Setting up of solar lighting to girl’s hostel in Kolar District.
13. HYGEINE FOR LIFE - Setting up comfort stations for girls at Govt. High School Magadi Road, Police Colony, Bangalore.
14. CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAM - A systematic campaign to spread awareness about the causes of incidence of cancer was conducted in several locations addressing huge gatherings.
15. SET UP OF WATER FILTERATION PLANT - A water filtration plant was set up in JulaPalya School enabling free water supply to all homes from which children attend school.
16. DISTRIBUTION OF SOLAR LAMPS - We have donated 1000+ Solar Lamps to the Rural Students Under CSR project of Thomson Reuters.
17. PANDU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – We are giving scholarship to the RVTI Architecture students to peruse their vocational training.
18. FREE LUNCH TO ALL CARE TAKERS OF CHILD PATIENTS UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY AT KIDWAI HOSPITAL.
19. MAGIC SLATE PROJECT – Tablets distributed to the primary school students to improve the learning capabilities.
